Free Mental Health Support for Businesses

Posted on October 31, 2025

As we approach the winter months, it’s more important than ever to recognise the impact that mental health can have on our wellbeing, both inside and outside the workplace.  Shorter days, reduced daylight, and increased workloads can all contribute to heightened stress and low mood.

At Courtley, we understand that maintaining good mental health is just as important as ensuring physical safety.  Supporting the wellbeing of our employees not only benefits them as individuals, but it creates safer, healthier, and more productive workplaces.

That’s why we’re pleased to share some information about a government-funded initiative that may benefit you and your team – the Access to Work Mental Health Support Service, delivered by Maximus.  This free service provides practical, confidential assistance to anyone experiencing work-related mental health challenges.

You’ll find more details about the service and how to access it below.  Maximus have already helped more than 45,000 people experiencing conditions like stress, anxiety, depression, and low mood in the last 7 years.

Their no-cost service provides:

  • Up to 9 months of confidential, personalised, one-to-one support from an experienced Mental Health Coach
  • Advice on coping strategies, workplace adjustments and return-to-work plans
  • Mental health specific webinars for staff and managers
  • Access to monthly support clinics
  • Networking opportunities to discuss challenges and best practice
  • Reports to inform your mental health strategy
  • Marketing materials (including presentation and online posters) to promote the service in Maximus’ Employer Toolkit

The service is available to anyone working for an SME (a businesses with fewer than 250 employees and an annual turnover of less than a £50m), whose work performance or attendance is being impacted by mental health issues, even if they are not diagnosed.  Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, Maximus provide tailored workplace support for individuals experiencing mental health issues related to their employment.
