Mental Health Awareness Week 2026: 11-17 May

Posted on April 30, 2026

Turning Awareness into Action

Mental Health Awareness Week will take place from 11–17 May 2026, bringing individuals, communities and workplaces across the UK together to focus on mental wellbeing.  Organised by the Mental Health Foundation, the week is one of the country’s most recognised public health campaigns, encouraging open conversations and helping to reduce stigma around mental health.

This year’s theme is “Action”.  It’s a powerful reminder that while awareness is important, meaningful change happens when we take practical steps to support ourselves and others.  Whether it’s checking in with a colleague, creating healthier workplace habits, or seeking support when needed, every action (no matter how small) contributes to better mental health.

In today’s working environment, mental health is more important than ever.  Many of us spend a significant portion of our lives at work, making it essential that organisations take proactive steps to create supportive, inclusive environments.  Taking action can mean introducing wellbeing initiatives, encouraging open dialogue, or equipping teams with the knowledge and confidence to recognise when someone may need help.

At Courtley, we believe that building mental health awareness in the workplace should go hand-in-hand with practical skills and training.  That’s why we’re running our Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health (1 Day) on the 14th of May, during Mental Health Awareness Week.

This course is designed to give delegates a clear understanding of common mental health conditions, how to recognise the signs and symptoms, and, crucially, how to respond appropriately.  It empowers individuals to start supportive conversations, provide initial assistance, and signpost colleagues to professional help where needed.

By investing in mental health first aid training, organisations are taking real, tangible action.  Not only does this support employee wellbeing, but it also helps to create a culture where people feel valued, understood and supported.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage you to think about what action you can take.  Whether that’s prioritising your own wellbeing, supporting a colleague, or strengthening your organisation’s approach to mental health.  Because when it comes to mental health, every action truly counts.
